manual fan control

Post by aaronhines77 »

I think i am missing something simple here. i had an uneventful install of a MX512 and am fairly pleased with the unit. I can't figure out how to manually control my fans. They are all running at what looks like about 50%, though the MO says 100%. Please help me, thank you.

Aaron

Thank you for posting on Matrix Orbital's support forums!

Are you currently running the LCDC software to control your fans? Everything can be controlled in this great program, and should allow you to set the proper speeds.

If you could let us know what software you are using, we should be able to help guide you in the right direction.

Thanks Aaron!

yes, i am using LCDC. I have searched the maual and program interface but cannot figure it out. I have labeled the fans under "RPM sensor" but most of the fans do not show rpm, though they are all running (though they seem to be at approx 50%). In addition to my original question, how do i know if i have the correct power connector in place? I used the standard molex-to-floppy power connector with the jumper set to 2-3. Is this correct?

Thanks,
aaron

Hi Aaron,

First off, you need the jumper on the two left pins to have control with higher power. When you have the jumper on the two left pins, you have the GPOs powered at 12V 1000mA. When you have the jumper on the two right pins, you have the GPOs at 5V and 1000mA.

The standard molex floppy power connector from your power supply is the correct power cable. If you didn't have the right cable, the display wouldn't have powered up.

To control the fans manually, you must do a couple configurations. I have attached a picture illustrating the configuration. You must do the following configuration for each fan or GPO you want to use.

If you have anymore questions or concerns, please feel free to post them.

Best Regards,
